How do you pronounce your name?

The name Jaya is of Sanskrit origin, meaning victory; victorious.

What camera do you use?

Currently, I'm using a Sony a6300 (newer model here) with a Sony 16-70mm f/4 lens. I edit on Adobe Lightroom using VSCO Film. Previously, I have used the Sony RX-100 (latest model here) for the first couple of years since I've started the blog. The Sony a7Riii is on my wishlist!

I also use a Huawei P30 Pro and edit with VSCO.

Do you have anything to disclose?

From time to time, I receive media kits and press samples from brands and PR companies. I only feature products and work with brands I love and am aligned with, in principle and aesthetics.

How did you start blogging?

I was starting to explore Instagram in late 2012 as a platform for photography when I was nominated as a suggested user. Becoming a suggested user was pre-Facebook Instagram’s initiative of giving recognition to their users and the community. I gained a considerable following as an effect.

I extended this online presence through blogging, which was the perfect digital avenue to share more photos and words. On Tumblr, I started, in late 2014.

There are tons of resources online detailing how to start a blog or how to become famous on Instagram or how to earn from either. My journey was simple. I loved taking photos. I learned how to share them online—and I kept doing so.

There’s a quote I’ve seen displayed on a window shop in Epsom:

“It’s not what you do; it’s why you do it. That’s what gets results."

I later learned this is a line from an 80s pop-band Banarama.

On the technical side, my domain is registered through IONOS and my website is hosted on Squarespace. Previously, it was on Tumblr. You can still find my archives on Tumblr.
